- STRONG MEDICATED SCENT THIS IS NOT A SALON SHAMPOO. Coal tar has a distinct tar medicinal smell during washing. It rinses out and does not linger in dry hair. If scent is a dealbreaker Berk s Select uses the same 3 percent Salicylic Acid and 1.5 percent Sulfur without the coal tar.
- THREE ACTIVES NOT ONE. 0.5 percent Coal Tar slows the scalp cell turnover that creates flakes 3 percent Salicylic Acid lifts and washes away the scale already there and 1.5 percent Sulfur clears the buildup underneath. Most dandruff shampoos rely on a single active.
- BUILT FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE ALREADY TRIED THE DRUGSTORE SHELF. If zinc and selenium formulas stopped working or never did coal tar is a different mechanism rather than a stronger version of the same one.
